The Seeing Toad is a small toad, referred to as Captain Dance's "pet." In The Calyx, Silas somewhat forcibly becomes a symbiotic host to the creature when Dance inserts it into the empty eye hole covered by his eye patch. This grants Silas a sort of visionary power which allows him - through the toad - to perceive mystical presences otherwise undetectable to the naked eye. It also grants him the ability create something of a link with other monsters which allows him to see things through their eyes remotely.
